Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. Keep your saw blades clean at all times. A gooey blade can cause dangerous kick back. Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat! Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present.
