Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer. Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets! Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Welcome fellow woodworker! Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole.
