Here is a handsome writing desk for a study or even the kitchen. A writing surface folds out and is supported by retractable slides which project from the sides of the desk. Five small drawers and several pigeon holes are concealed by the folding front. 36" wide, 20" deep, and 41" tall.

Add an upper hutch portion and make the Complete Secretary Desk.

This is a blueprint style plan which is heralded by beginners and experts alike as being a pleasure to work from because all parts are printed in full size -- all joinery is shown in actual size, curved workpieces are all in full size, therefore you can measure and trace straight from the drawing if necessary. A bill of materials doubles as an exact cutting list, there is a detailed exploded diagram, and all hardware requirements are provided. The exploded diagram with clearly labelled parts is so detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided as it is inherently understood. A special booklet entitled Guide to Building Wood Furniture is included with each Furniture Designs, Inc. plan and it includes tips explaining the "component theory" of woodworking.

Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets!            Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer.            The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks.            Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock.            Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building!            Our low-cost First Class shipping is only $3.5o -- most plans parcels arrive to U.S.A. customers in just 3-5 days.            Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them!            Keep your saw blades clean at all times. A gooey blade can cause dangerous kick back.            Sign up for FREE Email Sale Alerts and save 10-30% on plans from time to time. Check the left of the page for a link.            Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole.            Call 1-800-296-6256 Mon-Fri from 8am to 2pm, EST, with your question or order.            Did you know you can Mail-In your order? Check the left of the page for a Mail-In Orderform link.            Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter.            White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks.            Welcome fellow woodworker!            Welcome fellow woodworker!            Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove.            A roll up window blind or shade is a perfect place to store woodworking plans -- just tape them down and let the shade roll them up.            Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed.            Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects.            Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children.            Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags.            If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present.            Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat!
