Here is a new twist on the traditional purple martin house. Quite large at over 24" wide, it is also easy to build (even for the beginner). The project will give you practice on fitting mitered joints without the stress of losing expensive wood or showing bad joinery in the house.

There are eight compartments for your feathered friends, but you could easily add a second, third, or fourth level to make this a gigantic martin hotel. Top unscrews for cleaning. Plans include instructions for building, a materials list, full size patterns, measured drawings, and even instructions for a metal pole which hinges to lower the house for easy cleaning.
