Intarsia, to those who have never encountered it, is sort of like building a puzzle for woodworkers. By piecing together serveral parts and contouring the edges of those pieces, varying the stain colors (or types of wood), and then affixing all pieces to a backboard, depth is acheived in the project.

Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Welcome fellow woodworker!
