Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. Keep your saw blades clean at all times. A gooey blade can cause dangerous kick back. Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat! Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer. Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks. Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole.
