Old Grey Mare Rocker Plans
[WM-OGM]
$14.00

The child in this photo is 36" tall and the Old Gray Mare has a 19-1/2" tall seat height, so take this into consideration as a proportion guide when you are choosing a rocking horse to build for that special child. Wide rockers provide a smooth rocking motion and there's plenty to hold on to with the old fashioned yoke collar the mare wears.

She may be sway backed, but she's a loveable old work horse which you can make yourself using these detailed plans. You'll get full size patterns for all curved pieces and there is absolutely no carving involved with this or any of our rocking horses. A materials list, photos during construction, and detailed instructions are also provided.

We have a great DVD which focuses on the making of this style of rocking horse project -- that is, Wooden Memories brand rocking horses.  Click here to read about the 2 hour instructional DVD.

Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building!            Welcome fellow woodworker!            Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter.            Welcome fellow woodworker!            Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat!            Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed.            Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags.            Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove.            Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children.            The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks.            White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks.            Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer.            Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock.            Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them!            Keep your saw blades clean at all times. A gooey blade can cause dangerous kick back.            Sign up for FREE Email Sale Alerts and save 10-30% on plans from time to time. Check the left of the page for a Mail-In Orderform link.            Our low-cost First Class shipping is only $3.5o -- most plans parcels arrive to U.S.A. customers in just 3-5 days.            Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole.
