Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole. Welcome fellow woodworker! Keep your saw blades clean at all times. A gooey blade can cause dangerous kick back. Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed. Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat!
