French Colonial Baby Cradle Plans
[FD-708]
$14.00

This unique cradle (or berceau) was fashioned after one we found in St.Genevieve, Missouri, the first European pioneer settlement on the west bank of the Mississippi River. The cradle can be lifted from its sturdy stand for rocking on the floor or be left in place to swing from the beautifully turned posts. The spacing of the bow spindles meets federal safety requirements, so rest assured the project is a safe heirloom. Size: 42" long, 33-1/2" high, x 26".

A motivated dad or grand dad who is a beginner can most likely eek this project out nicely, but those of you at the intermediate or expert level will have no problems at all. It's really a neat project that has all sorts of heirloom potential. The spindles are band sawn.

Take a look at a customer's photo of this project!

This is a blueprint style plan which is heralded by beginners and experts alike as being a pleasure to work from because all parts are printed in full size -- all joinery is shown in actual size, curved workpieces are all in full size, therefore you can measure and trace straight from the drawing if necessary. A list of materials doubles as an exact cutting list, there is a detailed exploded diagram, and all hardware requirements are provided. The exploded diagram is so detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided. A special booklet entitled Guide to Building Wood Furniture is included with each Furniture Designs, Inc. plan and it includes many tips explaining the "component theory" of woodworking.

Neat!            Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building!            A roll up window blind or shade is a perfect place to store woodworking plans -- just tape them down and let the shade roll them up.            If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present.            Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects.            Welcome fellow woodworker!            Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them!            Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer.            Did you know you can Mail-In your order? Check the left of the page for a Mail-In Orderform link.            Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed.            Keep your saw blades clean at all times. A gooey blade can cause dangerous kick back.            Our low-cost First Class shipping is only $3.5o -- most plans parcels arrive to U.S.A. customers in just 3-5 days.            Welcome fellow woodworker!            White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks.            Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children.            Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock.            Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole.            Call 1-800-296-6256 Mon-Fri from 8am to 2pm, EST, with your question or order.            Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter.
