Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat! Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer. Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed. Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets! The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks. Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. Welcome fellow woodworker! Keep your saw blades clean at all times. A gooey blade can cause dangerous kick back. White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole. Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. Welcome fellow woodworker! Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. A roll up window blind or shade is a perfect place to store woodworking plans -- just tape them down and let the shade roll them up.
