This project is clearly a woodworker's favorite. What better way to hail your guests and showcase your woodworking talent? We've seen so many awesome photos of finished lighthouses -- the decoration possibilities are truly endless. One fellow woodworker added a bug zapper to the top of his lighthouse (which actually looked pretty neat). Another customer put a revolving light with a timer on his lighthouse and stuck it by his pond!

Full size plans for all curved pieces are included with this time tested plan, along with step by step instructions, a list of materials, photos, and measured drawings. The lighthouse can stand by itself with no improvements, but as seen in the picture, we recommend a solar light be added to the top of the lighthouse so it becomes a beacon. 5 feet tall.

A roll up window blind or shade is a perfect place to store woodworking plans -- just tape them down and let the shade roll them up. White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed. Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets! Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole.
