Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat! White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks.
