Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks. A roll up window blind or shade is a perfect place to store woodworking plans -- just tape them down and let the shade roll them up. Welcome fellow woodworker!
