A roll up window blind or shade is a perfect place to store woodworking plans -- just tape them down and let the shade roll them up. Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole. Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. Did you know you can Mail-In your order? Check the left of the page for a Mail-In Orderform link. White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets! Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them!
