Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole. Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer.
