Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. Keep your saw blades clean at all times. A gooey blade can cause dangerous kick back. Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat! Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole.
