Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets! Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks. Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat! If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present.
