We have gotten many requests for custom cabinetry plans over the years -- there are so many house configurations, so many needs, that we just can't design custom plans as a part of our business. You can, however, use the plans from our Modular Cabinetry line to customize your den or living room by combining several plans to create your own cabinet system.

Order the 30" chest plan shown here using the button below. The finished dimensions are: 30" wide, by 19" deep, by 30" tall. Use drawer slide hardware, or allow for natural wood drawer slides, for which the plan provides details. Traditional design will look pleasing in any decor.

All joinery is shown in actual size, curved workpieces are all in full size and you can measure and trace straight from the drawing. A bill of materials doubles as an exact cutting list, there is a detailed exploded diagram, and all hardware requirements are provided. The exploded diagram is so detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided. A special booklet entitled Guide to Building Wood Furniture is included with each Furniture Designs, Inc. plan and includes many tips explaining the "component theory" of woodworking.

Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets! Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat! The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks. Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole. Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Welcome fellow woodworker!
