We have gotten many requests for custom cabinetry plans over the years -- there are so many house configurations, so many needs, that we just can't design custom plans as a part of our business. You can, however, use the plans from our Modular Cabinetry line to customize your den or living room by combining several plans to create your own cabinet system. Set this bookshelf on an existing desk, or build one of the desks from our modular cabinetry collection -- either way, it makes a fun, useful project. Dimensions: 11" deep, 40" wide, 48" high.

All joinery is shown in actual size, curved workpieces are all in full size and you can measure and trace straight from the drawing. A bill of materials doubles as an exact cutting list, there is a detailed exploded diagram, and all hardware requirements are provided. The exploded diagram is so detailed that project specific assembly instructions are not provided. A special booklet entitled Guide to Building Wood Furniture is included with each Furniture Designs, Inc. plan and includes many tips explaining the "component theory" of woodworking.

Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat! Keep your saw blades clean at all times. Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Welcome fellow woodworker! Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks. Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! Petroleum jelly and cooking oils make perfect inexpensive, non-toxic light stains for projects. Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer. Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole. Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets! Welcome fellow woodworker! Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter.
