Here is a useful, yet simple project that will help you improve your furniture making skills in a "low-stress" situation -- there is not much wood required, most cuts are straight, and the curved cuts come with full size patterns. You can make it.

The traditional look fits well with den furniture, but you can make small changes to the look of this project by altering the skirt pieces (full size patterns are provided for the skirts as they appear in the photo here). Cut straight skirt pieces and you can turn this bookcase into a contemporary piece.
