The painted or incised lines on the runners and front nosing, plus the optional painted snowflake pattern, add to the attractiveness of this sled. Build it of ash, oak, birch, or maple.

If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! Covering the back side of sandpaper with duct tape will make it last MUCH longer.
