Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets! The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks. Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. Measure twice, cut once -- the paramount rule of building! If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present.
