The tips of different sizes of nails can be used as drill bits, working well on most wood stocks. Old croquet mallets, cut down to size, make inexpensive backup woodworking mallets! Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock.
