The plans from the Turn of the Century collection are actual antique plans -- insuring authenticity and sending you on a woodworking journey. Early Mission Bed Plans You will not find an more authentic Mission bed plan than this and, as the original plan states, it's "...so simple in construction and design that most any one that has a few tools and a knowledge of their use can make it," and that comment is straight from the late 1890's. Mortise and tenon joinery is used with all straight cuts, so this is a great intro project for the intermediate. With a little planning, the plan can easily be altered for a larger/smaller mattresses. The final size of the bed as by the plan is 50" tall, 54" wide, and 82" deep. The antique plan has been re-mastered and enlarged to an easy-to-read 36" wide plan which includes: a list of the materials with listed sides to be surfaced, measured drawings featuring front and side views, plus original instructions and notes on construction and the general considerations of the project. The plan also includes a bonus reader entitled "Olde World Craftsman Techniques" which talks about topics like making Mission Stains, Filling Oak, Wax Finishing, and more, plus it outlines three great jigs related to Mission furniture making.
