Flying Dutchman Scrollsaw Blades -- No. 7's If you've been working with the scrollsaw for any length of time, you know that it's difficult to find a blade that cuts well, cuts smooth, and minimizes the chance for breaking. We contend that the Flying Dutchman blade, made from high-quality German steel to close tolerance engineering standards is this blade. The reverse-tooth pattern of teeth gives a smoother cut than most blades by reducing tear-out as the teeth also cut on the upstroke, smoothing the cut (see picture left). These blades are flat end only -- that is, we do NOT carry pin-end blades. They are sold in lots of 1 dozen, or you can buy in a gross for a discount. We have 3 sizes of blades: Number 3 | Number 5 | Number 7 : each with a different T.P.I. rating, or "teeth per inch". The more teeth, the smoother the cut. The fewer teeth, the more aggressive the cut. If you're cutting 1" oak, you will need a more robust blade. . .at least a No. 7. If you're cutting 3/8" birch, you can use a No.3 for a super smooth finish -- be sure to choose carefully and cut at an appropriate speed for the material. Number 7 blades have 13 TPI and would be a good choice for hard, thicker woods (< 1-1/4"). All blades are 5" long, have 7 reverse cut teeth, and are flat (or pin-less) in design. Increase your value by ordering one gross (12 dozen) of blades -- you only pay $30 for a gross, whereas a single pack of 12 blades is $4.
