Think this project is above your skill level? It's not -- you can build both horses and finish as pictured, or build just one horse as many woodworkers choose to do with this project. (Good luck getting two kids to not fight while on the rocking horse at the same time -- we think this is the reason!) One child can straddle both horses, too, if you're only building for one child.

Seat height is 20", length 34". You will get full size patterns, instructions in a friendly paragraph format, photos during construction, and a complete list of the materials. Tips for decorating are included, but let your imagination run wild when it comes to finishing off this one-of-a-kind rocking horse.

Keep your stains and glues from freezing in your non-heated workshop by storing them in a plastic food cooler. Neat! A roll up window blind or shade is a perfect place to store woodworking plans -- just tape them down and let the shade roll them up. Easily remove rusted screws by heating the head with a soltering iron -- it will expand, then contract making it easy to remove. Abrasive wheels can be cleaned of goo with cooking spray -- it also helps prevent buildup of particulate matter. Cloths used to wipe stain can be safely air dried in a well ventilated area away from pets and children. White pencils are very useful in woodworking...they make easy to see lines on darker wood stocks. Keep your saw blades clean at all times. A gooey blade can cause dangerous kick back. Use a moist cloth to slightly dampen your hands before feeding stock through a cutter -- it gives you a much better grip on the stock. Wipe the clear sheild of your safety glasses with a dryer static cling sheet -- it will keep sawdust from sticking to them! Welcome fellow woodworker! Extend the life of your tack cloths by putting them in baby food jars or ziplock storage bags. If you have to bend small pieces of wood, wrap them in a damp towel and put them in the microwave for 2 minutes on high -- be certain no metal is present. Dented wood can often be repaired by heating a damp cloth with an iron over the dent...the wood will expand, filling the hole. Keep your table saw push stick close at hand by fastening it to the front of your saw table with velcro or magnets so you can quickly grab it when needed.
